It all started with photography. I got my first camera at the age of twelve and since then never stopped taking pictures.
My passion became my profession when I joined the polish daily newspaper "Rzeczpospolita" and later "Gazeta Wyborcza".

During that period I won the Reuter's Willie Vicoy scholarship at the University of Missouri and studied there at the Photojournalism department.
My job as a photojournalist took me to many countries all around the world but I never really liked big events, and rather concentrated on stories around the ordinary people.

One of my last works and for me personally most important as a photographer was a project that I didn't even shoot myself: "Świat" ("The World").
The workshop started in summer 2002. I gave out 25 little "point and shoot" cameras to children of two remote villages in the Beskidy mountains.
The result was an amazing and honest portrait of one of the poorest and economically troublesome regions. Those pictures were an "eye opener" for me and my own photography. I realized that sometimes it is nearly impossible to be so close to truth and honesty in photojournalism and began to question my own work.

Then somewhere in 2002 I got an assignment to work on a feature film as a still photographer and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere of the filmset. That was so much different from the loneliness of a photographer's journey and I decided to switch sides.
I passed my exams at the Filmschool in Lodz an began to study cinematography under such great filmmakers as: Witold Sobociński and Jerzy Wójcik.

I made 6 short films from which "The last frame" and "The Cigarette Box" are my favorites. Both were shown at the Camerimage festival in Lodz. "The Cigarette box" was awarded for best cinematography at the Polish Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2006, and at the 16th International Student Short-Film Festival of Cergy-Pontoise, France.
